Hiram Green named to national American Heart Association committee for hypertension ad campaign
Hiram Green, director of Community Engagement for USF Health, has been named to the Ad Council Project Team for the national American Heart Association.
Green, who has been active at the local and national level of the AHA for more than 15 years, including serving on its AHA Florida Puerto Rico Affiliate Board of Directors, will be part of a 20-member team developing and launching AHA’s national public service announcement campaigns focused on hypertension.
The campaign features the work of Uniworld Group, the New York-based pro bono agency assigned to the project, which will work with the Ad Council on campaign concept development, production and tracking based on the qualitative research already conducted. The campaign is targeting English-speaking Americans who are aware they have high blood pressure but may not be managing it as well as they should.
Currently more than half of those who have high blood pressure do not have it controlled. The hope of the campaign, which is also tracking smoking, body mass index, physical activity, healthy diet, total cholesterol, and glucose, is that this diverse group will improve management of their high blood pressure.
Green’s one-year term with the AHA Ad Council began in October. Roll out of the ads is expected April 2014.
