David Morgan appointed to state Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee
David Morgan, PhD, CEO of the the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, was one of seven Floridians recently appointed to the state’s Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee by Governor Rick Scott.
Dr. Morgan, distinguished professor of molecular pharmacology and physiology at USF, is one of three new members appointed to the 10-member committee, which oversees the state’s Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative, including Florida’s memory disorders clinics. His term runs through Feb. 13, 2017.
The Florida Department of Elder Affairs Purple Ribbon Task Force this year recommended more responsibilities for the Alzheimer’s Disease Advisory Committee (ADAC) to “focus on the challenges that Florida faces in addressing growing issues associated with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).”
The Task Forces final report states in its recommendation: “Revolutionizing the ADAC to be effective in its legislative responsibilities is imperative. The advancements and changes in the methodologies of care and treatment of ADRD have changed dramatically from 1985.”
