The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates individuals about disaster preparedness and trains and organizes teams of volunteers that can support their communities during disasters. The CERT Program offers training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. With proper CERT training, you can help protect your family, neighbors, and co-workers if a disaster occurs.
The course includes six sections: Disaster Preparedness, Fire Safety & Suppression, Hazardous Material and Terrorist Incidents, Disaster Medical Operations, and Search & Rescue, and a Practical Exercise.
To become a CERT member, one must complete the classroom training being offered to USF students, staff, and faculty for FREE. However, if you would like to purchase a Go Bag and/or USF CERT T-shirt that could be an option as well. Training will occur over the course of three days, all participants must attend all three days of training to receive their CERT Basic Training Certificate.
