    Versie Johnson-Mallard, PhD, MSN, MSMS, assistant professor for University of South Florida College of Nursing, has been named Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She was honored with the award for her vital contribution to clinical practice, research and education.     Melanie Michael, DNP, MS, FNP-C, CPHQ, assistant professor and director for Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at University of South Florida College of Nursing, has been named a Distinguished Practitioner and Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP). She is one of the 150 distinguished practitioners and scholars in the nation to receive this honor.     Captain Michael Ofman is a proud University of South Florida College of Nursing student and a dedicated flight nurse in the United States Air Force. Recently, he was called for deployment to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. When he received the call, Ofman was in his last year of his master’s program in the family nurse practitioner concentration.     USF Pre-Nursing LLC students volunteer at East-West Shrine Game Players Visit

    University of South Florida Pre-Nursing Living Learning Community (LLC) students volunteered at the 89th East-West Shrine all-star football game player’s visit on Jan. 18 at the Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. More than 25 students volunteered their time to help Shriners Hospital For Children with different tasks during the big event. The all-star game benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children and helps support the hospital’s mission of providing expert care to children in need.     USF Nursing awarded Jonas Scholar grant

    University of South Florida College of Nursing was awarded a $60,000 grant from Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans’ Healthcare to support six doctoral nursing students in 2014. The grant will provide funding for two PhD Jonas Nurse Leader Scholars, two PhD Jonas Veterans healthcare Scholars, and two DNP Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholars.
