    Matthew Gilbertson pursues PhD in biopharmaceutical sciences

    Matthew Gilbertson is getting a piece of the rock—Rockford, Illinois that is. This fall Gilbertson heads north to begin a doctoral program at the University of Illinois. His area of concentration is biopharmaceutical sciences. Matthew Gilbertson holds a master of public health degree in epidemiology and global communicable diseases. Recently, he earned a graduate certificate in biostatistics from the USF College of Public Health.

    Ketnie Aristide takes public health’s message to Botswana

    Ms. Ketnie Aristide recently received the biggest assignment of her life—in August she reports to Botswana for a two-year placement with the Peace Corps. As a member of the Clinic and Health Team, Aristide works directly with the HIV/AIDS Capacity Building Project.     Milora Morely gives award winning Autism presentation

    Milora Morely is the recipient of the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award.  She was honored at a luncheon on April 29 and received a cash prize for her work. The winning project titled, “Missing Incidents in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Antecedents, Descriptions, and Consequences” was presented at the 2013 Undergraduate Research and Arts Colloquium.     Health education is priority one for Dale Watson

    Dale Watson is a health education consultant with the Pinellas County Health Department. She’s based in Clearwater and is charged with supervising five community health advocates in an effort to improve health outcomes with primary care clients. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Watson worked in South Sudan with The Carter Center. Ms. Dale Watson earned a master’s degree concentrating in global health practice from the USF College of Public Health.

    Natalie D. Hernandez, MPH, PhD, is the recipient of the Satcher Health Leadership Institute’s Health Policy Leadership Fellowship. Named after former U.S. Surgeon General David Satcher, the fellowship provides postdoctoral professionals with knowledge, experiences, and skills needed to prepare them for leadership roles in promoting and implementing policies and practices to reduce and ultimately eliminate disparities in health.       On April 30, Jennie White successfully defended her dissertation proposal “Development of a Novel Method for Deriving Thresholds of Toxicological Concern (TTCs) for Vaccine Constituents” to her committee and members of the toxicology program.  Ms. White conducted her research at the Division for Vaccines and Related Products Applications (DVRPA) within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. For more than 20 years, the Center for Food Safety and Nutrition (CFSAN) used TTCs as regulatory limits for food contact materials. Numerous European regulatory agencies have adopted them as well.     Tobacco prevention is Monica Rousseau’s charge with Pasco County

    , Monica Rousseau, MPH, CPH, works with the Tobacco Free Florida Grant for the Pasco County Health Department. In this capacity, she serves as the tobacco prevention program consultant and SWAT (students working against tobacco) coordinator for the county. Additionally, Rousseau is an adjunct instructor with the USF College of Public Health. She teaches Foundations of Public Health Writing in an online format. Ms. Rousseau earned a master’s degree concentrating in health education from the University of South Florida.
