    COPH Students Participate in USF Health Research Day

    This year, 70 students affiliated with the COPH participated in the 22nd annual USF Health Research Day.   This number includes 55 students in the Departments of Global Health; Community and Family Health; Epidemiology and Biostatistics; and Environmental and Occupational Health…. plus 15 students in the Sunshine ERC!     Aimee Eden Receives Scholarship Award

    Aimee Eden, a doctoral candidate at the University of South Florida and adjunct professor of anthropology at Eckerd College, is the recipient of this year’s Realityworks and Go Beyond MCH Graduate Student Scholarship. She is currently an MCH Leadership Trainee. Her maternal and child health focus in both anthropology and public health have led to interdisciplinary research on breastfeeding, reproductive health, and family violence, as well as state- and local-level advocacy for universal children’s health insurance coverage.     Chiles Center Hosts Annual Symposium and Lecture

    Pictured are (l to r):  Marisa Langford, Erica Anstey, Dr. Kirby, Dr. Maureen Groer, Dr. Lewis Rubin, and Dr. Courtney Judd The Annual Chiles Symposium and Lecture was held on Tuesday, February 14th at the USF College of Public Health.  The program on 2/14/12 focused on Nutrition and Child Health Outcomes: Clinical, Geographic, and Public Health Perspectives.  The international lecture was provided by Dr. Alejandro Cravioto, Director, International Center for Diarrheal Disease Research, Dhaka, Bangladesh, who spoke on “Food for Thought: Mainstreaming Nutrition to Improve Child Health”

    Department of Global Health Student to Study in Geneva

    Sara Sachs, a Global Disaster Management and Humanitarian Relief student in the Department of Global Health, has been accepted by the Center for International Humanitarian Cooperation to study Human Rights and Humanitarian Law this spring in Geneva, Switzerland.  Sara says she is thrilled about studying abroad; “I was extremely excited when I found out I was accepted.  This program will help me explore the world of human rights and humanitarian law, and the relationship that it shares with Public Health.  I am looking forward to the experience of going out [...]

    Alma Hurd Receives Quiet Quality Award

    Alma Hurd, a fiscal and business specialist in the Dean’s Office, was recently awarded with a Quiet Quality Award.  The Quiet Quality Awards were implemented in the fall of 1996 by the Staff Senate with strong support from USF administration in a collaborative effort to increase employee recognition.  Alma was nominated by her supervisor in recognition of her hard work.

    Kimberly Rogers, MPH (GH,’08) is training for a marathon. Not just any marathon. Kim is running 26.2 miles for the first time in her life and is training for it in the frigid cold of Alaska!
