    GH alumna presents poster at Pacific Northwest Border Health Alliance Conference

    Dorothy D. Zeviar, EdD, LAc, MPH (GH,’12), CPH recently presented a poster entitled “Apathy or Engagement?  Applying health behavior theories to disaster preparedness” at the Pacific Northwest Border Health Alliance Conference in Tacoma, WA.  The poster is currently displayed in the Department of Global Health.

Black Award from the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., a national organization that implements programs designed to improve the quality of life for African Americans and other minorities.     CFH student is an evaluator with the Native American Health Center

    Carla McClellan (BH) was recently hired by the Native American Health Center.  As an evaluator, she joins the evaluation and data team and will ensure high quality data management and reporting. Ms McClellan will also have the opportunity to develop curriculum, as well as hone her writing and advocacy skills.     Dr. Yangxin Huang awarded international travel grant

    Yangxin Huang, PhD, an associate professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, received the USF Faculty International Travel Grant for two international conferences: “The Second Joint Biostatistics International Symposium” in June and “The International Conference on Analytical and Computational Methods for Complex Systems” in July. Both conferences are held in China. Huang was invited to give oral presentations in special sessions of the conferences and was selected as a scientific committee member.     Dr. Henian Chen awarded enhancement grant

    Henian Chen, PhD, was awarded a proposal enhancement grant from the USF Division of Sponsored Research titled Longitudinal Relationships between Well-Being and Life Goals and Associations among Happiness and MAOA, OXTR Genes in the amount of $24,500.  This proposal has the following specific aims: Aim 1: To estimate the causal relationships between SWB and life goal changes in 2 generations over the same 30 year period and the relations between mother SWB and offspring SWB.
