• Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics accepting applications

Undergraduate students interested in biostatistics are invited to apply for the Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics (SIBS). Hosted at the University of South Florida College of Public Health, the program runs from June 24 – July 31.

In its fourth year of existence, the Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics is a unique six-week, living and learning experience designed to stimulate undergraduates’ interests in biostatistics and address a critical shortage of biostatisticians in the nation.  Participants embark on field visits to various healthcare service and research organizations; engage in hands-on training; attend lectures with top biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and clinicians; and, analyze real data sets from landmark studies.

Thanks to funding from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institute of Health, all tuition, fees, housing, food, and travel are all paid for by the SIBS.

Students are eligible to receive up to four college credits for successfully completing the program.

General information on the SIBS, admissions requirements, and application materials are available at www.health.usf.edu/sibs.  Interested students are encouraged to apply early. The deadline for materials is March 15 and the class size is limited.

Specific questions on the SIBS should be directed to cbaaske@health.usf.edu or (813) 974-7840.
