On January 15, University of South Florida Professor Adewale Troutman, MD, MPH, NA, CPH, spoke at a National Press Club news conference announcing the 2013 Roadmap of State Highway Safety Laws.

As president of the American Public Health Association, Dr. Troutman helped release the report and advocated for auto safety.

“The most effective strategy to combat this public health problem is prevention,” said Dr. Troutman.  “Years of research show that driving sober, properly restraining our children in cars, protecting novice teen drivers and keeping our hands on the wheel and our eyes on the road will prevent crashes.”

Dr. Troutman directs the Center for Leadership in Public Health and the MPH in public health practice program at the USF College of Public Health.  In November, he was installed as president of the American Public Health Association.
