Alexia Makris presents at American Society of Transplant Surgeons Symposium
Alexia Makris, an epidemiology doctoral candidate in the USF College of Public Health, and Angel Alsina, MD, presented their research at the American Society of Transplant Surgeons 13th Annual State of the Art Winter Symposium. The meeting was held in Miami, Florida on February 1.
Ms. Makris and Dr. Alsina presented posters entitled, “Improved Survival with Sorafenib and Multimodality Therapy in Recurrent Hepatocellular Carcinoma Following Liver Transplantation: A Preliminary Report” and “Predictors of outcomes in liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma in the MELD era.” Dr. Alsina is a faculty advisor to Ms. Makris and holds a courtesy appointment in the Morsani College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery.
