According to the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, the University of South Florida is one of 25 top institutions for research activity. If the past three years are any indication, students in the College of Public Health significantly contributed to the University’s Top 25 designation.

Over the past three years, research awards and presentations from public health students have nearly doubled. In 2012, 55 public health students presented posters at USF Health’s Research Day, up from 29 students in 2010. Likewise, the College offered nine research scholarships in 2012, up from five in 2010.

The dramatic increase in scholarly activity is due in part to the College’s strategic plan and a commitment to fund student research. From 2010 to 2012, funding for the Student Honorary Awards for Research and Practice (SHARP) Awards increased from $12.7k to $22.4k.
