Chighaf Bakour Presents Winning Presentation
Chighaf Bakour, doctoral student, presented a winning oral presentation at the COPH ‘section’ of USF Health Research Day: “Obesity and Childhood Asthma: Does Breastfeeding Make a Difference? Analysis of Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2007-2008″
The main finding of the study was that while being overweight increases the risk of asthma in children under six, this effect appears to be limited to children who have had less than six months of breastfeeding. Extended breastfeeding protects against the effect of obesity on the risk of asthma in children.
