MISSION STATEMENT
Advanced Medical Practices Interest Group —

To provide leadership and direction in the development and application of innovative telemedicine and telehealth systems to improve the delivery and availability of health programs. Our vision is for the optimal use of telemedicine and telehealth systems to positively impact the health and the quality of life in our society. AMPIG is committed to revolutionizing the future of healthcare by introducing graduate and undergraduate students to new distance interaction paradigms. Activities include those in which real-time interaction between professors, students, healthcare professionals, and patients facilitate and enhance patient care across distance intervals by utilizing the tools and methods of telehealth and telemedicine.

Projects:
1. Telemedicine Research – currently conducting research on the facilitation of an elementary school health program in Hillsborough County.
2. American Telemedicine Associations – all members will have the opportunity to join the ATA organization and attend biannual conferences across the US. At the conferences students will participate in telehealth educational certificate programs including, but not limited to, clinical services, model programs, operations & business, public policy, remote monitoring, engineering, and information technology.
3. Guest speakers – Professionals who currently work in the field of telemedicine will be invited to organization events to share their experiences and to allow for students to network with telemedicine leaders and visionaries.
4. Evaluation of global telehealth – Students will plan and execute an annual international trip to evaluate the use of telemedicine technologies and communication between USF AMPIG students and international partners.
