Manuscripts by Naoki Tajiri, PT, PhD, Assistant Professor in the School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences and the Department of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair will be published in 2 journals, Brain Research and PLoS One.
As lead author, Dr. Tajiri collaborated with several co-authors from the Department of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair on “Suppressed cytokine expression immediately following traumatic brain injury in neonatal rats indicates an expeditious endogenous anti-inflammatory response.” The article will appear in Brain Research, a journal that reports interdisciplinary investigations of nervous system structure and function that are of general interest to the international community of neuroscientists.
Two additional manuscripts will be accessible on PLoS One, an international, peer-reviewed, open-access, online publication that features reports of original research from all disciplines within science and medicine. Dr. Tajiri is first author of “Behavioral and histopathological assessment of adult ischemic rat brains after intracerebral transplantation of NSI-566RSC cell lines.” He worked with lead author Dr. Sandra Acosta and others from the Department of Neurosurgery & Brain Repair on the manuscript “Combination therapy of human umbilical cord blood cells and granulocyte-colony stimulating factor reduces histopathological and motor impairments in an experimental model of chronic traumatic brain injury” that will also appear in PLoS One.
