Temple Terrace Chamber honors Drs. Morgan and Flannery as Medical Heroes

David G. Morgan, PhD, CEO of the USF Health Byrd Alzheimer’s Institute, and Michael Flannery, M.D., USF professor of internal medicine, were two of six people who recently received the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce’s Medical Hero Awards.

The awardees were honored at a Chamber banquet this spring for their contributions to the healthcare profession and service to the community.

Dr. Morgan received the award in the category of Medical Researcher. He was recognized for his his work in transforming memory-related health services for patients and families with the development of the Center for Memory C.A.R.E., a comprehensive diagnostic center for patients with memory impairment that integrates the latest clinical research.

Dr. Flannery, received the Chamber’s Medical Hero: Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his outstanding contributions in teaching hundreds of medical graduate students who have gone on to practice in Tampa Bay.
