USF friends turn out to thank Paula

Friends from across USF gathered this week to thank Paula Knaus for her 30 years of service, support and sincerity. The USF Health rotunda was filled with well-wishers and Paula enjoyed hugs from them all.

“She is beautiful, smart, ethical, trustworthy and kind,” said Joann Strobbe, CFO and AVP of Finance, Administration & Technology for USF Health and the Morsani College of Medicine.

“She has counseled many faculty and staff at USF and all that know her will miss her.”

“Paula is a very warm, caring, enthusiastic individual who genuinely cares very much for our USF staff,” said John Curran, MD, associate vice president for USF Health and senior executive associate dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine.

Paula, who is associate dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs in the College of Public Health and director of AIMS, College of Medicine, joined USF in 1982. During those 30 years, she has served USF and USF Health in many leadership roles. She has been Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Vice President for Human Resources and Diversity, Associate Vice President for Faculty and Staff Affairs for USF Health and Associate Dean for Faculty and Staff Affairs in the College of Medicine.

Paula was instrumental in implementing significant initiatives at USF including the Employee Assistance Program, Victim’s Advocate Program, Teaching Enhancement Program, Leadership Development Program and Office of Diversity. Her successes outside of USF were many, including co-founding the Southern Region Annual Professional Development Conference for Women in Medicine at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).

USF Health photographer Eric Younghans was one of many who gathered July 16 to thank Paula.
