USF medical student Parva Bhatt earns national research training award

Second-year medical student Parva Bhatt was recently awarded the 2012 Trainee Research Award from the American Society of Hematology, in Washington, DC.

The award, which includes $4,000 for conducting research on blood and blood-related diseases and $1,000 for traveling to the 54th ASH Annual Meeting in Atlanta in December, is designed to expose trainees to both hematology and research early in their careers and to inspire them to pursue research in hematology as part of their future training.

Bhatt was one of 17 medical students, along with medical residents, and undergraduates, to earn the award.
