Dr. Richard Lockey earns top research award from Southern Medical Association

USF Health’s Richard Lockey, MD, has received the 2012 Moreton Original Research Award from the Southern Medical Association (SMA) for his significant research work.

Dr. Lockey, who leads USF Health’s nationally-recognized Division of Allergy and Immunology, will be presented with the award at SMA’s 2012 Healthcare Summit in Nashville, TN, in November.

The award is given annually in recognition of original research in clinical medicine or the basic sciences as applied to medicine. USF colleague Dennis K. Ledford, MD, nominated Dr. Lockey, who is Distinguished University Health Professor, professor of Medicine, Pediatrics and Public Health, and director of the Division of Allergy & Immunology. In addition, Dr. Lockey holds the Joy McCann Culverhouse Chair in Allergy & Immunology University of South Florida College of Medicine. He also just concluded a two-year term as president of the World Allergy Organization.
