Dr. Charles Slonim earns service award from Florida Society of Ophthalmology

USF Ophthalmologist Charles B. Slonim, MD, was awarded the Shaler Richardson, MD, Service to Medicine Award by the Florida Society of Ophthalmology at the group’s annual meeting in June.

Dr. Slonim is an adjunct professor of in the USF Health Department of Ophthalmology, associate professor in the USF Division of Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery, and associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

The award was established by the Florida Society of Ophthalmology, which is the professional association for medical and osteopathic doctors who specialize in vision care, to recognize a Florida ophthalmologist who has made significant contributions to quality patient care on a local, state or national level.

Dr. Slonim is a board-certified ophthalmologist. He has lectured extensively to ophthalmologists, optometrists and other physicians throughout the United States and in more than 55 international cities in more than 35 countries around the world. He has published a book, Eye Was There: A Patient Guide to Coping with the Loss of an Eye, 20 textbook chapters, 36 ophthalmic journal articles and 11 clinical symposia.
