USF Health’s Snitch honored at regional library event

USF Health’s own Snitch was recently awarded honorary membership to the local chapter of the Medical Library Association.

Snitch, a dedicated ‘staff’ member of USF Health and the Shimberg Health Sciences Library, was presented with the membership at the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association’s annual meeting held in late October in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

“At our business meeting, the chair made an announcement that she was taking ‘executive privilege’ to make Snitch an honorary member, then she asked the membership to vote on it and it was unanimously approved,” said Rose L. Bland, MA, MPA, AHIP, director of the Shimberg Health Sciences Library.

Snitch accepted the award wearing her best USF Bulls scarf. She even met Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Snitch officially joined the USF Health staff in 2014, “hired” to be a liaison between the Shimberg Library and USF Health students.

USF Health co-chaired the conference as local arrangements hosts along with the University of Central Florida. The Southern Chapter/MLA includes health sciences librarians from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Several staff members from USF Health attended the conference, including Snitch for a day.
