USF Health Ambassador, Sandra Nelson Earns Culture Coin For Providing Support, Empathy, Care

At the USF Health South Tampa Center for Advanced Healthcare, USF Health Ambassador, Sandra Nelson is described as a “Shining Star.” Sandra goes above and beyond her day-to-day duties by ensuring each guest feels appreciated and supported during their visit. On a specific occasion, a quadriplegic patient was dropped off at the center, alone, with no one to help her find her appointment location. Once Sandra took notice of the situation, she helped the patient get to her appointment, stayed with her during the check-in process, and offered to return if the patient needed her at any time. Sandra’s small act of kindness nearly brought the patient to tears.

Thank you, Sandra, for making life better at USF Health!

The Culture Coin is part of a broader USF Health-wide initiative offering a fresh examination of what USF Health stands for, including updating the mission, values and principles that drive faculty and staff to put their best forward. These focus on becoming lifelong learners, constantly striving to improve, and display the gritty resolve necessary to continuously perform at the highest level. The coin itself is a symbol of dedication, optimism, inclusiveness, transparency and innovation and will be awarded to exemplary employees who go above and beyond in representing USF Health values.
