He’s known for his leadership behind the scenes while the staff and faculty who work with him get the recognition they deserve.  On June 2, it was his turn in the spotlight.  Bryan Bognar, MD, MPH, vice dean of the Morsani College of Medicine Department of Medical Education, became the subject of many praises from his students, staff and faculty when he became USF Health’s most recent Culture Champion.  Dr. Bognar was praised for his leadership when the COVID-19 pandemic forced students, staff and faculty to immediately adjust to full distance learning environment.  The college made the transition smoothly with very few hiccups along the way.   In his most recent effort, Dr. Bognar was instrumental in making MCOM a regional National Board of Medical Examiners testing site that will serve all undergraduate medical students across all 10 Florida medical schools.   Dr. Bognar says his DME team is the reason the college is a rising star in the medical school community.  For his efforts, USF Health senior vice president and MCOM dean, Charles J. Lockwood, MD, MHCM, presented an almost-tearful Dr. Bognar with a culture coin.

“We are so lucky and grateful to have a dean who puts his students first all of the time. I’m so proud to be a Bull. But, I’m even more proud to be under this leadership.”  Jasmina Ehab, MS4.
