USF Health medical student earns national award

Second-year medical student You Jeong “Julie” Park recently earned a 2020 Alpha Omega Alpha Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship for her research titled “T-regularoty cells confer anti-inflammation against stroke-induced white matter injury.” The fellowship provides $5,000 of support while she conducts her research.  Park, who has an interest in stroke and stem cell therapy, saw this as an opportunity to gain more knowledge about how pre-clinical research is translated into clinical trials and ultimately patient outcomes. “COVID-19 has limited the amount of research I’ve been able to do lately, but I’m really proud to represent USF Health and MCOM in receiving this award,” she said.
