USF Health Ambulatory Surgery Center Ranked in Newsweek as Florida’s 4th Best ASC

Newsweek partnered with respected global research firm Statista to name America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers 2021 and the USF Health Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) was ranked as the 4th best ASC in Florida.

Healthcare experts such as nurses, therapists, physicians and surgeons, and administrators in ASC’s, were surveyed and asked to recommend up to five ambulatory surgery centers. Participants assessed quality of care, performance data and peer recommendations relative to in-state competition. They also took into account how well facilities were responding to the threat of COVID-19.  Additionally, experts from all over the US were able to participate in the survey on newsweek.com. All data was collected by Newsweek and Statista during the survey period from July to September 2020. Self-recommendation was not possible. The research project analyzed more than 4,300 ASCs in the 25 states with the most facilities and the final list spotlights the 400 best centers. Those states are: California, Florida, Illinois, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Georgia, Missouri, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Louisiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Washington, Minnesota, Arizona, Mississippi, New York, South Carolina, Indiana, Kansas and Tennessee.

The USF Health ASC is a multi-specialty, state-of-the-art facility offering the highest quality in patient care. Outpatient surgeries, also known as ambulatory surgery, do not require an overnight stay in the hospital and post-operative care can be comfortably managed from home. Outpatient procedures performed at the ASC are routine operations with low rates of post-operative complications. The USF Health ASC is equipped with the newest technology, and our integrated operating rooms allow physicians to communicate with experts at other locations. Our suites were designed first and foremost with patient safety and comfort in mind. The USF Health Ambulatory Surgery Center offers four fully equipped and integrated operating rooms, five endoscopy suites, and a 33 bed pre- and post-operative recovery room.

Ambulatory surgical centers performed more than half of all outpatient surgeries in 2017, according to Bain research, and that percentage is already expanding. Orthopedic, cardio and spinal surgeries are expected to drive the growth.
