USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy Dr. Pooja Patel Named Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year

Pooja Patel, PharmD, assistant professor at USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy (TCOP) in Tampa, has been named the 2020 Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year by the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Foundation as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, which was held virtually.

“I am honored to be a recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year Award and greatly appreciative of the NCPA foundation for this recognition. It would not be possible without the support of my amazing students at USF Health TCOP who nominated me for this prestigious award.” Dr. Patel said.

Pooja Patel, PharmD, was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year by the National Community Pharmacists Association.

 

Since joining USF Health TCOP, Dr. Patel practices as an ambulatory care pharmacist at the Tampa General Medical Group family medicine clinic in Riverview, Fla. She works as part of an interdisciplinary team to manage chronic disease states focusing on cardiovascular and metabolic therapeutic areas. Dr. Patel is the course coordinator for the USF TCOP Pharmacotherapeutics I course offered to the second-year students and the Ambulatory Care Elective offered to the third-year students. She has been awarded second-year Teacher of the Year for the last two years (2019 and 2020) and was awarded Preceptor of the Year in 2019. She also serves as a faculty advisor for NCPA’s student chapter at TCOP.

Dr. Patel says she is honored to be named NCPA Foundation’s 2020 Outstanding Faculty Liaison of the Year and adds that it would not be possible without the support of her amazing students at TCOP who nominated her for this prestigious award.

The NCPA Foundation is a nonprofit organization established in 1953. The NCPA Foundation supports the growth of independent community pharmacy through scholarships to pharmacy students, critical research/programs to improve the success of independent pharmacy and patient care.
