USF Health Homecoming Schedule
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3
Movie on the Lawn – The Princess Bride – 7:00-9:30pm – Lawn Behind COPH
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole family for an evening under the stars. We will be showing the cult classic fairy tale, “The Princess Bride,” on a large screen in the lawn area behind COPH. Get there by 7 to secure your prime spot; the movie will begin at 7:30. Snacks and drinks will be provided.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 6
Stories and Sweets from Around the World – 12:00-1:00pm – MDA 1209A
Take a mid-day break, and come learn the “story” of stories. Dr. Dolores Griffin Morris studied English and Philosophy at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. There, she had the opportunity to study folklore with Dr. James M. Taggart. Inspired by Dr. Taggart’s work, Dolores used a research grant to travel Ireland, Scotland and southern England interviewing folk story tellers and ballad singers. Although she went on to receive a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, ultimately moving away from folklore studies as a profession, her interest in folklore and in the power of stories remains. Desserts with an international flair will be provided.
