You may have noticed the flurry of activity on the research floors of the Byrd Alzheimer’s Center over the last few months. We have successfully recruited to the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine new, NIH-funded, highly impactful scientists who will carry out their research at Byrd. We have also acquired additional high resolution equipment, and further refined the research cores. The majority of efforts are directed towards Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).
Having reached a “critical mass” of successful faculty, quality of research, and resources to remain at the cutting edge of ADRD research, we recently formulated a plan for the next steps forward in our combined efforts to understand and cure these neurodegenerative diseases. The plan was written by David Kang, PhD, professor and director of basic research at Byrd, and me, and can be found by clicking here.
Please join us in celebrating all the positive changes underway, and the bright future of neuroscience discovery and innovation at USF Health.
