On February 28, more than 180 USF Health donors gathered at the new building for Morsani College of Medicine, Heart Institute, and soon-to-be Taneja College of Pharmacy for a celebration of giving. Guests were treated to a progressive dinner experience and open house with tour stops throughout the facility.
Tour stops included the Florida Blue Health Knowledge Exchange and its MultiTaction video wall, the Experiential Learning Laboratory, Legacy Commons, medical education classrooms with a Microsoft hub demonstration, collegia suites, medical educational affairs, and the USF Health Heart Institute laboratories.
Once finished with their building exploration, guests filed into the auditorium to enjoy desserts and a champagne toast given by Dr. Charles Lockwood, senior vice president for USF Health and dean of Morsani College of Medicine. College namesakes Carol and Frank Morsani, as well as a group of medical students, joined Dr. Lockwood and USF President Steven Currall on stage to pull the cord for the surprise balloon drop to conclude the evening.
“All of our donors are building a lasting legacy through giving to this facility. They are giving to prepare better physicians, empower new discoveries, and innovate health care for this generation and future generations,” said Dr. Lockwood.
Even though the new building is now open, the fundraising continues. Visit usf.to/downtown or contact development@health.usf.edu to make your contribution to help advance the future of health today.
