Mr. Carlos Nelson, Concerted Services, Inc. (CSI) executive board chairman is pleased to announce that John “Juan” S. Luque, PhD, MPH, has joined CSI’s executive board representing Bulloch County. Dr. Luque replaces Mr. Conner Berry.
Dr. Luque is an assistant professor in community health in the Georgia Southern University Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health and a member of the University’s ad-hoc Committee for Tolerance and Community Collaboration. As a member of this committee, Dr. Luque serves as a link between the committee and the Migrant Health Clinic experience, an academic-community service partnership that provides health services to the Vidalia onion harvesters during the summer. He has coordinated “quality of life item” drives to collect incentives for these yearly clinics. He also provided health education with the Southeast Georgia Communities Project as part of this partnership. Dr. Luque recently published evaluation research findings on these farm clinics in the Journal of Community Health and the Journal of Agromedicine.
“We are honored to have Dr. Luque serve on the board,” stated Mr. Nelson. “His commitment and dedication to serving the residents of Georgia is evident thru his work at Georgia Southern University. His knowledge and experiences will help us as we face the unique challenges of governing a Community Action Agency.” continued Mr. Nelson.
Dr. John Luque earned a master of public health degree in epidemiology from the University of South Florida College of Public Health.
