USF COPH Selects 2011 Outstanding Woman in Public Health

The University of South Florida College of Public Health has selected the 2011 recipient of the Florida Outstanding Woman in Public Health.  This year’s award recipient is Annette Phelps, ARNP, MSN.  Ms. Phelps is currently the Division Director of Family Health Services for the Florida Department of Health at the State Health Office in Tallahassee, Florida.  She previously served as Bureau Chief of Family and Community Health (6/98-3/02) and as an Executive Community Health Nursing Director for Maternal and Child Health (11/80-6/98).

Ms. Phelps began her nursing career in 1974.  She has served in various position in the private and the public sector.  She began working for the Florida Department of Health in 1981.  Ms. Phelps is also an alumnus of the Public Health Leadership Institute (1999) at the USF College of Public Health.

The USF College of Public Health will be holding an awards ceremony to honor Ms. Phelps and to present her with this year’s award on Wednesday, April 6th.  We congratulate Ms. Phelps on her award and wish her continued success in her public health career!
