Akers Receives Undergraduate Student of the Month Community Service Award

The USF College of Nursing Student of the Month Community Service Award is given monthly and recognizes students who volunteer in the community outside of their nursing program requirements. The College wants to recognize those students who make the effort and take time to give back to the community.

Jenna Akers, September 2010 Undergraduate Recipient
* Volunteers at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital as a Child Life Coordinator.
* Desire to provide the comfort and contact that infants and toddlers need to develop properly.
* Has traveled to Romania and Thailand as a missionary volunteer to work with neglected children.
* Has goal to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and to one day travel back to Romania and perform a formal research study about the effects of not having a caregiver on orphans.
