Call for Abstracts and Registration Open for Second Annual National Conference on Nursing Education and Research in Veterans Health
University of South Florida College of Nursing will host the second annual JOINING FORCES TO RESTORE LIVES: Nursing Education and Research in Veterans Health national conference on October 21, 2013 at the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) in downtown Tampa. The organizing committee is pleased to invite abstract submissions for presentations and posters on the topics of educating nursing students in veterans’ healthcare (education track) and veterans’ health research topics (research track). The abstract submission deadline has been extended to Friday, August 9th, 2013. For more information visit http://www.cme.hsc.usf.edu/joiningforces.
The purpose of this national annual conference is to support a comprehensive national initiative to include education about issues specific to veteran’s health and advances in research into the nursing curriculum to better prepare nurses to care for military veterans and their families. The dynamic role of nursing professionals spanning nursing executives, scientists, researchers, educators, advanced practice nurses and registered nurses will engage in an educational forum specifically designed to provide current relevant core content to support veterans returning from war or deployment which face a variety of physical and psychological health care needs including: traumatic brain injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, suicidal ideation, homelessness, sexual trauma and substance abuse.
