Cathy O’Neil Appointed to the National Emergency Nurses Wellness Committee

Catherine O’Neil, RN, MSN, CEN, Instructor and Team Coordinator for Florida Hospital Tampa at the University of South Florida College of Nursing, was recently appointed to the national Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Wellness Committee. The Emergency Nurses Wellness Committee serve as content experts to help identify and develop effective workplace wellness strategies (e.g., toolkit) for emergency nurses through review of the literature, national data, and current successful practice. Assist with the development of guidelines (e.g., position statement) for establishing a culture of workplace health and wellness in emergency departments. Recommend initiatives for promoting health and wellness among emergency nurses who attend ENA Annual and Leadership conferences.

O’Neil was chosen to be in the committee for her strong interest in workplace wellness including areas such as night shift workers, fatigue, stress and the impact on the employees overall health and productivity.

For a number of years, O’Neil has been very active in the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). She is currently the local ENA Chapter President, and she has served as a national delegate on numerous occasions. In August 2012, she served as the State Volunteer Ambassador Chairperson for National Convention in Tampa.
