College of Nursing advisor receives USF Outstanding Undergraduate Advising Award
College of Nursing Academic Advisor, Emmanuel Rivera, MHRM, received the University of South Florida 2013 Outstanding Undergraduate Advising Award for his exceptional work as an advisor with nursing students.

“We are proud of Rivera’s contribution to the USF College of Nursing undergraduate program,” said Constance Visovsky, PhD, RN, ACNP-BC, associate dean for Student Affairs and Community Engagement at USF College of Nursing. “The Office of Student Affairs and the entire college congratulate him for receiving this well-deserved award!”
Rivera, who has been working at the college as an advisor for over three years, was nominated by Dr. Visovsky and supported by the entire undergraduate team, faculty, staff and Student Affairs. He is the only USF Health advisor to receive this award.
“This award means a lot to me because it really shows the appreciation my coworkers have for me,” said Rivera. “Professionally, this award acknowledges that I am doing a good job in my professional role as an academic advisor. Everything that happens in Student Affairs is a team collaborative effort. It’s what our office will take from this award…If we continue working together and serving our students we can all achieve this prestige’s award.”
Rivera said his biggest passion is to help students achieve their academic success. “My strategy is listening to students and guiding them in the best possible direction,” said Rivera. “Equipping each student with all the necessary tools and resources for success is the best strategy.”
He was honored for his achievement during a USF reception on Nov. 26 at the Marshall Center.
