USF College of Nursing student receives Grace-Gill Award
Jonathan Pollard, who recently graduated with his BS in nursing degree, was awarded the Grace-Gill Leadership and Excellence Award for outstanding Veteran to Bachelor’s in Nursing (VBSN) Student for Contributions and Demonstrated Commitment in Leadership and Excellence. The award is named for Captain William “Bill” Grace, former C-5 Aircraft Commander, who died in a training accident in 1966, and Captain Henry A. Gill Jr., a United States Naval Officer who served as a US Naval aviator from 1960-70. He later attended Georgetown University Law Center and although upon graduation resigned from active duty, he remained in the naval reserves an additional 18 years.
Dr. Allison Rossiter nominated Jonathan Pollard for this award because he has not only demonstrated perseverance through difficult personal strife but emerged as a leader among his classmates. This included efforts helping ensure his peers’ success as students. He was honored by preceptors and patients for his character and abilities as a healthcare provider.
