Dr. Beckie speaks at three-day women’s heart health conference
Dr. Theresa Beckie was invited to speak at the Women’s Cardiovascular Programs & Services conference held at Embassy Suites in Tampa.
Dr. Beckie, PhD, RN, FAHA, a cardiovascular health researcher and professor at USF Nursing, discussed the challenges and opportunities for secondary prevention for women who have experienced a cardiac event.
“I focused on the barriers to facility-based cardiac rehabilitation programs and how digital health that is personalized to women’s life circumstances could reach so many more women when they need it,” Dr. Beckie said.
The three-day strategic business conference focused on hospitals and health systems and how they can increase the demand for gender specific care. More than 10 topics surrounding women’s heart health were covered.
“All the leaders in cardiovascular health attended,” Dr. Beckie said. “I was honored and excited to be invited.”
