Dr. Carmen Rodriguez receives tenure
Carmen Rodriguez, PhD, recently received tenure and was promoted to USF Nursing associate professor. She earned this acknowledgment for her strong commitment to education, research and practice.
Dr. Rodriguez, who joined USF as assistant professor in Dec. 2012, teaches students at the master’s, PhD and DNP levels. Besides her commitment to teaching, Dr. Rodriguez also conducts life-changing research on symptom management.
She is currently working to develop and implement technology-based communication to help hospitalized suddenly speechless patients. “My goal is to improve the communication process during sudden speechlessness events to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes,” said Dr. Rodriguez.
Dr. Rodriguez also serves as nurse practitioner for the Helping Hands clinic in Gainesville, Florida, providing free healthcare to the poor and homeless.
