Emma Adams, Nursing Student in the USF Herd of Thunder Drumline

University of South Florida College of Nursing student, Emma Adams, plays snare drum in the USF Herd of Thunder Drumline. Adams is one of only a few USF Nursing students to serve as members of the USF Marching Band. She has been a member since 2010. As a part of USF’s spirit squad, Adams performs with the band at all home USF football games. She also performs at various Buccaneers games and high school band competitions. This year, the band will also be the “Feature Band” at the London New Year’s Day Parade.

University of South Florida College of Nursing student, Emma Adams, has been playing snare drums for the USF Herd of Thunder Drumline. Adams is the first USF Nursing student to be a member of the USF Marching Band. She has been a member since 2010.

“Before acceptance into the nursing program, I anticipated the time consumption of both endeavors and was anxious about my chances of getting into the nursing program,” Adams said. “Since acceptance, I have learned valuable time management and organizational skills from both programs, which will help me personally and professionally. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to continue my passion of playing the drums as well as continuing my education toward my career.  I hope that my experiences will inspire others in the College of Nursing to pursue their interests as well.”

Adams is an undergraduate student majoring in nursing, and expects to graduate by May 2014. Adams is very involved in the USF and College of Nursing community. She is currently the Secretary of her class board, and the Vice President of USF’s Bulls for Babies organization, a group that volunteers in local Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) to raise money for the March of Dimes as well as promote prematurity awareness.
