Fox 13 News interviewed University of South Florida College of Nursing Alum, Matthew Jenkins, in a recent story about a recent national trend in men who seek jobs in traditionally female dominated professions.

Fox 13 interviewed Jenkins concerning his choice to become a nurse after serving in the United States Marine Corps. Jenkins told Fox 13 that deciding to enter in the nursing field was difficult, but it was the right one.

“Job opportunities, cross training, the ability to go to school, further schooling as a nurse practitioner, while you continue to work. I mean, there are just a lot of options,” Jenkins told Fox 13. “Nursing is a growing field right now.”

Recently, USF College of Nursing also wrote a story about Jenkins’ decisions to become a nurse after serving his country, “Front Lines to the ER – Marine Veteran Choses Nursing at USF.” Jenkins graduated with a bachelor’s degree in May, 2012, and now works as a nurse for the VA Nurse Academy at James A. Haley VA Hospital.

The story aired on the 6:00p.m. and 10:00p.m. newscasts on Thursday July 12, 2012.
