Graduate student receives scholarship from American Cancer Society
USF Nursing DNP student, Danielle Walker, RN, BSN, recently received a $20,000 scholarship from the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Walker, whose interests are focused on gerontology and oncology, will use the scholarship towards her evidence-based practice project on cancer pain management and tuition. She will receive $10,000 per year.
Walker is a full time student. She currently works as a registered nurse for Moffitt Cancer Center at the inpatient hematology oncology unit. After she graduates, Walker plans to work with oncology patients to help them achieve the best quality of life. She says oncology patients are one of a kind, and would not trade them for the world.
“They are the strongest and bravest people I know, and I am privileged to work one-on-one with them and their families,” said Walker.
