Guatemala Mission Succeeds in Saving Lives
Students in the USF nurse anesthesia program recently returned from a successful mission helping the under-served in Guatemala.
College of Nursing Assistant Professor Karla Maldonado, DNAP, CRNA, ARNP, and two student registered nurse anesthetists (SRNAs), Sunni Moreno and Alex Leon, traveled to Guatemala on a surgical mission.
During their time there, the group performed 25 cases over three mornings. In the afternoons, the team taught a nursing course that gave a basic introduction to surgical and anesthesia care to local doctors and nurses who work at the hospital.
