Lengacher Elected to Serve as Oncology Nursing Society Special Interest Group National Coordinator

University of South Florida College of Nursing Professor and BS-PhD Program Director Cecile Lengacher, RN, PhD, FAAN, was named Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Complementary & Integrative Therapies Special Interest Group (SIG) National Coordinator.

The Complementary and Integrative Therapies (CIT) SIG began in 1992 and now has more than 900 members with an interest and expertise in a vast array of CIT.  In this leadership position Lengacher will promote education on the safety and efficacy of CIT for individuals with cancer, families, cancer survivors, and caregivers. She will facilitate the provision of knowledge, information, and continued learning opportunities related to CIT for use in clinical practice and research. Lengacher will promote the  development of collaborative relationships with national and international organizations and associations focused on CIT in cancer care. Through the SIG, Lengacher will emphasize the role of nursing within complementary and integrative medicine.

USF College of Nursing MBSR-Symptom Cluster Trial for Breast Cancer Survivors grant Recruitment Manager and BS-PhD Student, Irina Carranza, RN, BSN and Project/Data Manager, Sophia Ramesar, BS, will serve as Facebook Administrators for the ONS CIT SIG (Oncology Nursing Society Complementary & Integrative Therapies Special Interest Group) Facebook fan page. Carranza and Ramesar will manage the page by posting photos and events, maintaining discussion boards, and updating leadership information. They will also develop new ways to connect with the page’s fans. MBSR-Symptom Cluster Trial for Breast Cancer Survivors grant Research Assistant, Carly Paterson, BSN will serve as the ONS CIT SIG Newsletter Editor.
