Nicole Andrews Receives Student of the Month Community Service Award
COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENT:
October 2012 Graduate Student recipient: Nicole Andrews
Nicole is an enthusiastic member of the SRNA @ USF. She currently serves as the junior class treasurer. As a student officer, Nicole has spear headed multiple fundraising events for the organization. On September 1, 2012, the SRNA @ USF hosted their annual Meet and Greet event for new students, current students, faculty, alumni, clinical coordinators, and family. Over 100 people attended the event. Nicole was paramount in organizing the raffle in which the proceeds will benefit SRNA students attending state and national professional meetings, SEE exams, and mission trips. Nicole was able to arrange for a signed Tampa Bay Rays baseball to be donated to the raffle. With community service a primary focus of our organization, Nicole organized a portion of the proceeds from the raffle to be donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation. The SOWF provides full scholarship grants and educational and family counseling to the surviving children of special operations personnel who die in operational or training missions and immediate financial assistance to severely wounded special operations personnel. Wendy, the director from the Tampa division of SOWF attended the Meet and Greet event and explained how the SRNA @ USF donation will benefit the education of the children of fallen warriors in the Tampa Bay Area.
