Nurse Anesthesia Charter Class Graduate and DNP Student, Malbrough Awarded Grant for Central Line Insertion Evidence-Based Project
Nurse anesthesia charter class graduate in 2008, and current DNP student, Sonya Malbrough, MS, CRNA, received notification that she is being awarded a grant for over $11,000 from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Foundation for her evidenced based project, “Motivating a Change towards Evidenced Based Practice: Best Practice for Central Line Insertion for the Novice Anesthesia Provider.”
Malbrough developed an interest in this topic while in the masters program taking a doctoral level evidence based practice course with Cas Cahill, DNP, ARNP, that’s required for all nurse anesthesia students. While in this course Malbrough developed a protocol for the use of a doppler for the insertion of central line catheters. Her protocol has been presented at the AANA conference and the abstract has been published in their journal.
