PhD Student, Carly Paterson, receives four-year fellowship from NIH

Nursing PhD student, Carly Paterson, BS, RN, received a four-year Cancer Prevention Fellowship from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Paterson, who expects to graduate with her PhD in May, 2015, will receive training in research, cancer prevention and control. During the fellowship, she will also complete her master’s in Public Health. The fellowship includes a competitive annual salary and benefits along with travel and relocation reimbursements.

For the last few years, Paterson has been working with Cecile A. Lengacher, RN, PhD, FAAN, professor and program director for BS-PhD at USF Nursing, on the NCI funded MBSR Symptom Cluster Trial for Breast Cancer Survivors research study. Dr. Lengacher has served as sponsor and mentor for Paterson’s research.
