Rowan Receives Graduate Student of the Month Community Service Award

The USF College of Nursing Student of the Month Community Service Award is given monthly and recognizes students who volunteer in the community outside of their nursing program requirements. The College wants to recognize those students who make the effort and take time to give back to the community.

Tammy Rowan, October 2010 Graduate Recipient

* Member of the Board of Directors for the Sonia Plotnick Health Fund which funded $9,000 in healthcare benefits for the treatment of under privileged women.

* Provides service for the Susan B. Coleman Breast Cancer Foundation for fundraising and promoting public awareness. Has also fundraised for the Manatee County Adult Immunization Coalition to
provide free immunizations for their underserved population.

* Member of the Board for the Healing with the Arts and Healthcare Coalition that uses the arts to promote healing.

* Her passion for health promotion in the underserved populations has led her to such community contributions.
