USF College of Nursing Receives 2013 CASE Circle of Excellence Award
University of South Florida College of Nursing received the 2013 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence Bronze Award for the College’s Bulls Encouraging and Assisting through Research and Scholarship (B.E.A.R.S.) collaborative program.

The USF College of Nursing created B.E.A.R.S. in 2012 to provide alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends a new way to support their alma mater and make a significant impact in the community. The program helps showcase the college’s commitment to positively transform healthcare and quality of life in the Tampa Bay region, and it’s an opportunity to raise crucial financial support for the USF College of Nursing.
Through B.E.A.R.S., the College delivered more than 200 bears to sick children at local hospitals including Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Florida Hospital Tampa, Tampa General Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
“B.E.A.R.S. has been a huge success,” said Dean Morrison-Beedy. “The B.E.A.R.S. initiative showcases the USF College of Nursing’s mission in the Tampa Bay community through our powerful hospital and corporate partnerships for wellness, education and research.”
CASE recognizes winning programs that represent the profession’s best practices, raise standards and contribute to a growing body of knowledge about advancement. A panel of judges, who selected the winner, recognized the College for accomplishing success that has a long-lasting impact, demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and delivering exceptional results. USF College of Nursing was one of the 300 CASE winners out of 2,900 total contenders.
“This program’s success is a direct result of the outpouring of charitable support from the alumni and friends of the College of Nursing as well as the teamwork and generous time committed by the faculty, staff, and students,” Snyder said. “We look forward to an even more successful B.E.A.R.S. program in Fall 2013!”
