USF College of Nursing staff member, Melanie Martinez, receives USF Quiet Quality Award
University of South Florida College of Nursing Receptionist for the Dean’s Office, Melanie Martinez, received the USF Quiet Quality Award for her pleasant demeanor, great work performance, professionalism, and positive work ethic.
USF College of Nursing Chief Operating Officer for Director of Administrative Affairs, Anne Phillips, nominated Martinez. In the official letter she sent to USF Staff Senate, she said Martinez is reliable, punctual, self-motivated, polite, extremely focused, and respectful of other’s privacy. Martinez is an exceptional employee, she said.
“Martinez’s professional demeanor and phone etiquette are superb,” CFO Anne Phillips said. “As the Receptionist of the Dean’s Office, she is extremely approachable and courteous to others. She takes her responsibilities seriously. She is as thorough and thoughtful in all of her tasks. She also supports college events and efforts almost in a behind the scenes manner.”
Martinez received a framed Award Certificate for the recognition, a name announcement in the Quiet Quality website, a picture displayed on the USF “Wall of Fame” in the USF Administration Building Breezeway, and an invitation to the official award ceremony hosted by USF Staff Senate in June, 2013.

“Receiving this award meant the world to me, not because of the recognition, but because my coworkers thought enough of me to submit a nomination,” Ms. Martinez said. “I love working here at USF College of Nursing because I’m surrounded by such great people. In my time here, I honestly feel that I have learned many skills that I will be able to apply to all future endeavors. In addition, this is such a fast paced environment. Very rarely do we come across a dull moment and that is a wonderful thing.”
The Quiet Quality Awards, founded in 1996 by the USF Staff Senate, was created to increase the USF effort to recognize employees and their continuous hard work to accomplish the USF common goals.
