USF Nursing Alum receives award from Moffitt Cancer Center

USF Nursing alum, JoEllen Warnke, RN, BSN, OCN, ‘98, ’12, recently received the 2014 Nurse of the Year award from Moffitt Cancer Center.

Warnke is a nursing education specialist and coordinator for the nurse residency program at Moffitt Cancer Center. She has worked for Moffitt for more than 16 years in various areas including inpatient and outpatient (breast surgery) and consumer health education. She received the coveted award for her leadership as a nurse and mentor for newly licensed nurses and nurse residents.

This is not Warnke’s first award from Moffitt Cancer Center. She received the 2006 Linda Campbell Nursing Excellence award. She was also nominated for the DAISY award and the 2011 Nurse of the Year award.

Warnke completed her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at USF Nursing, and remains in close touch with her alma mater.
