USF Nursing hosts Coming Home event

USF College of Nursing hosted the 2015 “Coming Home with a Purpose” Alumni Reunion on March 28 where more than 100 faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends attended the event to celebrate another year of alumni success.

The annual festivities began with a greeting from Dianne Morrison-Beedy, PhD, RN, WHNP-BC, FNAP, FAANP, FAAN, senior associate vice president of USF Health and Dean of the USF College of Nursing, that highlighted the college’s achievements over the past year, and laid out a foundation for what’s to come in the years ahead.

During the event, USF Nursing officials present awards to several alumni:

Rasheeta D. Chandler, PhD, ARNP, FNP-BC, ‘08, ’05, assistant professor, USF Nursing – 2015 Outstanding Young Alumnus Award

Melissa Shelton, PhD, RN, ‘11, ‘08, ’05, assistant professor, USF Nursing – 2015 Alumni and Friends Service Award

Members of the class of 1980 and earlier were recognized with GEMS pin. Members of the class of 1995, 2005 and 2010 were recognized with an updated nursing pin. Students serving in the military were also presented the Military Recognition Coin.

During the event, alumni took a special tour around USF in the Bull Runner bus. The special evening ended with a gala-style reception where they enjoyed great music, food and networking.
